The SkinPen is the only FDA approved medical treatment device proven to induce collagen production used to diminish skin concerns, common signs of ageing such as fine lines, as well as treatment melasma and surgical and acne scarring.

 

Microneedling also know as Collagen Induction Therapy is the process of breaking down the old damaged strands of collagen leaving the skin to produce new stronger strands. 

 

During a typical treatment the SkinPen Precision device is attached to a disposable cartridge which contains a series of small needles. As the SkinPen device moves across the skin it creates small microinjuries not visible to the naked eye which encourages tissue regeneration resulting an improved appearance of the skin. Not only does this improve the appearance of the skin, but the structures and function too. These results can be seen after 3 treatments with 4-6 week intervals between procedures. Multiple sessions are recommended for best results.

Each session typically takes 30 mins with treatment to the neck and back of hands available too. It is advised if clients wish to apply topical anaesthetic for this to be applied 30-45mins prior to appointment and can be purchased over the counter from pharmacies.

 

While experiences will be different for everybody typically the following can be expected post treatment.

-Mild redness, swelling lasting hours to several days post treatment

-Slight discomfort for 24 hours

- Mild bruising in some people

- Minor crusting for several days post treatment

- Itching and skin peeling 

- temporary darkening of skin pigments before it lightens
